Tyler School of Art + Architecture
When Tyler School of Art and Architecture and Temple University’s Strategic Marketing and Communications team tasked us with designing and producing their undergraduate viewbook, we were elated by the chance to work with such a respected university in Philadelphia and to speak to young creatives during their college decision-making process. This was a special year for the well-regarded art institution because for the first time in its history, Tyler recognized its distinguished architecture program in the full name of the school. Naturally, their leadership found it crucial to treat every undergraduate major with equal weight to respect both the Art and Architecture departments of Tyler.
We explored Tyler’s building—interviewing students, faculty, and leadership—to learn the unique benefits of being a part of this community. The finalized viewbook is a result of presenting Tyler School of Art and Architecture as the prestigious art school it is while adhering to the brand guidelines of the larger institution of Temple University. We found balance in emphasizing the creative character of Tyler as well as the security that pursuing an education within a public university offers. Our design is clean, minimalist, and bold in surprising ways. The white space allows the photography—which captures student work, moments of collaboration, and the overall energy of the campus—to speak for itself.
